Munchkin Drawing - stage 2: Cleanup.
I created a new layer which i'll use to cleanup the initial sketch. Set the sketch layer to opacitymof 50% or less and draw on the layer above. Making adjustments and changes as I go while trying to remain true to the energy of the sketch.
next stage 3: ink and refine.

This'll be a process sequence from start to finish.
This was a layered sketch in ArtRage 3. Each Munchkin drawn on a separate layer and the merged when I'm ready to go into stage 2.

Originally I had the scarecrow as this lighter than air, wispy thing who constantly relied on the post he was tied to to function. But it felt the design was cumbersome and too Christ-like.

Rejected Oz Lion.
I started doing the designs for my personal Wizard of Oz character design project with the thought - "What if these were made for a game?" So I wanted each of the characters to be a little darker and more fierce in nature. Holding weapons and whatnot.
My first passes at the designs weren't as successful as I had hoped, so I scraped the Game design idea and just started designing them as if they were made for some darker animated film project.
I'm currently working on a concept for the "flying monkeys" - nearly finished.

Scraps Drawings. I had the idea to use a bunch of leftover bristol board clippings for drawings. These were created around Halloween one year. I'd love to revisit design creation of classic horror monsters. Maybe after I'm finished with my OZ designs...
